Non-statistical fragmentation in photo-activated flavin mononucleotide anions

چکیده
The spectroscopy and photo-induced dissociation of flavin mononucleotide anions in vacuo are investigated over the 300–500 nm wavelength range. Comparison dependence fragment ion yields as a function deposited photon energy with calculated energies collision-induced measurements performed under single-collision conditions suggests that substantial fraction photo-activated ions decompose through non-statistical fragmentation pathways. Among these pathways is dominant channel, loss identified formylmethylflavin. specific action spectra reveal electronic transition close to those for flavins solution previously published gas-phase measurements, although photo-fragment yield upon excitation S2 ← S0 appears be suppressed.

Flavin mononucleotide-binding flavoprotein family in the domain Archaea.
The protein (AfpA, for archaeoflavoprotein) encoded by AF1518 in the genome of Archaeoglobus fulgidus was produced in Escherichia coli and characterized. AfpA was found to be a homodimer with a native molecular mass of 43 kDa and containing two noncovalently bound flavin mononucleotides (FMNs). The cell extract of A. fulgidus catalyzed the CO-dependent reduction of AfpA that was stimulated by t...

Addition of flavin mononucleot ide (FMN) to spinach chloroplast preparations containing intact chloroplasts was found to result in inhibition of photosynthetic CO2-dep¢,t~dent oxygen evolution. Since the inhibition could be reversed by catalase, it is a t t r ibuted primarily to product ion of H202 in an FMN. mediated Mehler reaction which occurs in the broken chloroplasts of the preparations. ...
متن کاملInteraction of bacterial luciferase with 8-substituted flavin mononucleotide derivatives.
Bacterial luciferase catalyzes the emission of visible light from the reaction of reduced flavin, molecular oxygen, and an n-alkyl aldehyde. The mechanism of the reaction was probed by measuring the electronic effects of various substituents at the 8-position of the flavin ring system. Substituent effects were obtained for CH3-, Cl-, CH3O-, CH3S-, F-, and H- on the rate of formation and decay o...

From the particulate reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (DPNH) oxidase of beef heart, Mackler (3) has obtained a soluble DPNH dehydrogenase which was estimated to be approximately 90 to 95% homogenous when examined electrophoretically.l Similarly, when the enzyme was chromatographed on diethylaminoethyl cellulose with phosphate buffer, pH 7.5, in a gradient elution method (0.001 M to 0.0...
متن کاملA biomimetic redox flow battery based on flavin mononucleotide
The versatility in design of redox flow batteries makes them apt to efficiently store energy in large-scale applications at low cost. The discovery of inexpensive organic electroactive materials for use in aqueous flow battery electrolytes is highly attractive, but is thus far limited. Here we report on a flow battery using an aqueous electrolyte based on the sodium salt of flavin mononucleotid...
